"Just found out the parking management at Dockweiler State Beach was changed to L.A. County Department of Beaches and Harbors, which was a huge mistake. Today, May 30th, 4:50pm, I went to simply enter the parking lot in order to drop someone off at the bottom of the ramp, after which I would turn around and leave - not even to get out of my car. Literally dropping off a passenger. I approached an African-American Female with short hair, sitting under an umbrella next to a booth. I explained my intention of dropping off for 30 seconds and coming right back to exit. She quickly replied: "NO. You can turn around here and they can walk all the way down. OR you can pay $9." Extremely unprofessional attitude; She treated me as if I was not only an ingenuine liar, but also too poor to hand her $9 for no apparent reason. This is the first time in my life I have been denied passenger loading/drop-off at a parking booth. I truly cannot understand why such harshness and ridiculousness. I wish I got her name; No kindness at all, what a shameful and humiliating encounter. I will never come back here. They make you sound DUMB and POOR!! No understanding whatsoever."
"$107 of late fees on a $63 parking ticket. I forgot to contest it in time but submitted photo/video proof of the parking meter not working on the day that I received that ticket. This agency is the worst"
"Bathroom at Point Dume beach wasn’t supposed to be closed yet, told them it was an emergency (even explained that I had gotten my period and had bled through my pants and down my legs) and was told no sorry they were in a hurry. I’m glad that getting off work 5 minutes early is so important that you can’t be considerate enough to let someone with an emergency clean themselves up before getting in the car to try and find another bathroom. Embarrassing myself with the reason I needed to use it was bad enough, being told no was disappointing and mortifying. The employees should learn really learn to have some consideration (surprise! they were all men). No wonder y’all have 3 stars"
"If I could figure out 0 stars I would...many people like to come here at Dock 52 to sit socially distanced in their cars to look out over the water and/or eat lunch. Unfortunately, they often can’t because there are often no empty spots. there are limited non handicapped parking spots along the water’s edge but often as many as half of the spots are taken up by Dept of Beaches and Harbors county vehicles and their employees’ vehicles while they are at their offices - sometimes all day. I have called and emailed the department regarding the issue And I asked about them about just parking in the next row, but I was told no one can stop them. I can not believe the department can’t regulate their employees especially when it is in the best interest of the public they were hired to serve. One employee even told me those spots are too far to walk (less than 15 feet). Today when I tried to take pictures I was actually harassed by someone I believe to be a county employee who told me “we can park any where we want - 1st come first served.” That should not apply to employees working to serve the public. This marina was created for the recreational use of the residents, they technically work for us and their salaries are paid for by our tax dollars yet their needs seem to supersede ours. The lack of courtesy, arrogance, sense of entitlement and rudeness was astonishing - so much for public service."
"I came in here to get a senior beach parking pass for a couple of cars. Very helpful staff, she made the whole process simple. Certainly better than you would normally expect from a county government office. Made for a very pleasant experience and definitely worth the drive down here"
