The history of Del Monte Cafe dates back to the early 1900s when the Robbins Family opened a neighborhood grocery store in San Luis Obispo. After decades of operation, the store was eventually boarded up and condemned until Debbie and Mark Collins had a vision to turn it into a neighborhood cafe in 1980. The dream became a reality on February 2nd, 1981, when Del Monte Cafe opened its doors to the public.
