Circus Waldissima
Circus Waldissima, located at 655 Willowside Road in Santa Rosa, California, is a unique institution that offers a full circus arts program. Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm is one of the few Waldorf schools in North America to have such a program, complete with its very own European big-top circus tent. Led by experienced instructors Sieglinde and Don Basmajian, students in grades 3-12 learn a variety of circus skills including juggling, clowning, tumbling, trapeze, aerial arts, and more as part of their physical education curriculum. The highlight of the program is the Circus Show in the Spring, where students showcase the skills they have learned. In addition to the school program, Circus Waldissima also offers after-school circus classes through the Circus Club program, open to the public. These classes include Circus Skills, Mixed Aerial Arts, Unicycle, Juggling, Tumbling, Teen Silks, and Trapeze. The advanced performance group, Cabaret, puts on their own Spring show alongside professional circus arts guest performers.
