Redwood Forest

"Beautiful property nestled in a gorgeous forest. Plenty of restaurants nearby in Crescent City as well as a state park filled with ancient, 1,000+ year old redwood trees. The home is rustic and basic, so if you're looking for a well staffed and all-inclusive resort, this isn't it. There is no television and the Internet can be spotty at times. But if you enjoy a more rugged experience that allows you to disconnect from the monotony of day-to-day life and reconnect with nature, this is a great place to be. The rooms are well apportioned and each one has a private shower and a balcony overlooking the gorgeous landscape. There's also a very friendly black kitty on the property who loves pets and attention. I sympathize with those who left low star reviews, feeling they were booking a resort when this is simply a basic cabin in the woods. For me, though, I enjoyed the simplicity and beauty of the cabin and of the natural landscape. I encourage anyone who is considering this place to carefully research it before booking, and if this simple yet beautiful property fits what you're looking for, it's a great deal. Edit: I did notice that the third party websites do mention that the cabin property includes restaurants and bars. This is not true, although I am not sure if this is the fault of the owners or the third party website getting something mixed up. I encourage the owners to look into that if possible. They mostly rent off of Airbnb, and the listing there is accurate, so it's probably just a mistake."

"I have a Negative zero rating for this place. Sadly can’t post the rating I want. Arriving at the redwood log house there was no signs other than a no trespassing sign posted at the beginning of the driveway. The description and photos are 100% not what the actual property is terrible with mold growing and used kitty litter next to the garage where you park. The home apparently is still under Covid restrictions so when coming in to the house you are blocked by partitions / furniture with the smell of the “home” was as if it had not been lived in for years gross lingering smell the description follows rooms as well. The owners of the house were not welcoming and not helpful as to guests hospitality. They made contact via text and disappeared as soon as they arrived shortly after we arrived. I would NOT RECOMMEND this to anyone."

"This wonderful beautful redwood califonia forrest is very big ang nice . I took long walk then l expected . Welcome kids freindly. There is some pets big animal fish, more to learn a out area nice and secure, natural forrest l have never seen . We very had good time to walk around of this forrest all day long to enjoy nutural. Water is there, clean bathrooms there. I'm sure you won't have a problem when you visit this area."

"The posting for this place is extremely misleading. It’s an old, poorly kept house with garbage surrounding it that the owners are trying to pass off as some sort of airbnb/hotel. It’s not! It’s just someone’s house with a few bedrooms (that seem to be used as someone’s regular bedroom given all the half used personal items in the bathroom??) that they rent out. It was like getting catfished by a hotel- such a bizarre experience. We got there after a long day on the river and took a shower- during which we realized the house has well water, not normal water, so it smells and is undrinkable- something they don’t mention. We smelled worse after our shower than we did after swimming in the river. We left immediately after and are in the process of filing a dispute with our credit card company to get our money back. Stay away from this place!"

"This is not a hotel. If you're looking for TV and room service you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a quiet getaway spot with a deck and a wonderful view of nature it is perfect. The home owners basically rent out rooms. They each have their own full bathroom and patio door leading out to a deck that overlooks a small yard and vast swathes of forest. The skylights provide fabulous lighting. The only time we saw the owners was when they were out in the yard. They were really friendly, smiled, waved, said hello, and went about tending to their beautiful yard and home. We went on a Pacific Northwest vacation lasting a week and a half that took us into 3 different states. We stayed at numerous hotels, some good, some not so much. We stayed here for one night and it was our most memorable stay. The price was way lower than anything else in the area and I honestly think they are under charging. 100% recommend this for anybody who is seeking a quiet escape to nature."
