Restoring Our Communities (ROC)
Restoring Our Communities (ROC) is a unique academic support program located at Laney College in Oakland, California. Specifically designed for formerly incarcerated students, ROC aims to provide the tools and resources necessary for success both at Laney College and beyond. The program seeks to eliminate the stigma associated with being formerly incarcerated and address the effects of mass incarceration and the school-to-prison pipeline. At ROC, formerly incarcerated students can find a safe and supportive environment where they can receive peer mentoring and advising, as well as access to workforce training programs and community partnerships. The program also offers pathways to employment opportunities through Laney College's Career Technical Education programs.
