Our collection at Culturarts draws from the rich heritage of Oaxaca, inspired by the visionary work of Mexico City artisan Pedro Linares. His legendary dream, experienced during a near-death state, introduced him to a fantastical realm filled with extraordinary beings. Upon awakening, Linares brought these creatures to life using colorful papier-mâché techniques, coining the term "alebrijes." This tradition has evolved as Oaxacan artisans embraced wood carving to create these stunning figures, each telling its own story.
