China Town House
β OpenChina Town House, located at 9591 San Bernardino Road in Rancho Cucamonga, California, is a historic building that holds significant cultural value. Unfortunately, plans are in place to demolish this two-story red clay structure, which is the last remnant of the area's former Chinatown. The building has been red-tagged as unsafe, and with no funds available for restoration, the decision has been made to demolish it. The China House holds a rich history, with Chinese laborers who helped build the transcontinental railroad settling in the area in the 1880s. The Navarrette family later acquired and lived in the house, with Larry Navarrette sharing fond memories of his time there. Despite the impending demolition, efforts are being made to preserve some of the building's bricks for a monument that will commemorate the Chinese laborers who once lived there.
