Rio de Los Angeles State Park
β ClosedRio de Los Angeles State Park State Recreation Area is a serene oasis located in the midst of industrial and residential areas in Los Angeles, California. The park offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in nature, with hiking trails, native plants, and returning wildlife. In addition to its natural beauty, the park also features sports fields, a children's playground, and a recreation building. Once a railroad maintenance facility, the park now provides a peaceful retreat for all who visit. Managed in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, Rio de Los Angeles State Park is a vital green space in the city. The park's history dates back to the early 20th century when it served as a freight-switching facility for the Southern Pacific Railroad. As Los Angeles grew, the facility eventually closed in the 1980s, leaving behind undeveloped land along the Los Angeles River. Today, the park is one of the last remaining natural areas along the river, offering a glimpse into the city's industrial past.
