About the Business

Pismo Beach Pier Plaza is a popular tourist attraction located in Pismo Beach, California. The plaza features colorful illuminated letters spelling out "Pismo Beach" and a playground with a giant slide leading to the beach below. The newly updated area includes a new parking area, street improvements, and other additions while still maintaining the classic California aesthetic. The playground is inspired by the surrounding nature, with elements such as a Humpback whale, Clam slide, and surfboards. The renovated historic Pismo Beach Pier now hosts Vintage Airstreams offering different experiences, including a concessionaire, visitor's center, and Sheldon's Bait Shack. Sheldon's Bait Shack, a family-owned business, has been a staple on the pier for nearly 45 years and continues to offer bait, tackle, snacks, and souvenirs. The Pismo Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau also has a Visitor Information Airstream on the pier, providing information on lodging, dining, and activities. Sunsets at Pismo offers gourmet street food, local beers, and wine on the pier. The Shell Beach Streetscape features an 18-block pedestrian-bike path with updated waterways and landscaping, perfect for enjoying the outdoors and exploring shops and cafes.

"We came here on Christmas Day, restaurants in the area were closed for the holiday but one food truck on the pier was open. There’s is also public parking. Street parking is $6.00 per hour but if you’re willing to walk, there are free street parking nearby about 15min walk to the Pier Plaza. Restroom is clean."
"Pier with a great view of the ocean; during the Christmas time there’s a big Christmas tree at the end of the pier which is very impressive."
"Loved this beach as an alternative for Avila beach. But the trolley was not operating at this season so my final stop was Pismo Beach. It was a beautiful day beautiful people were happy my dog was happy the only thing I have to say is the nightlife too loud revving cars revving motorcycles total noise pollution all the way, maybe for the younger crowd but not for me a senior. Plus I got stranded overnight because I missed the last bus. I thought maybe people camped on the beach without a problem when I settled in to try that I almost got Jumped by a couple of young adults so i got out of there and hid in the Shadows until the morning bus but it was a wonderful experience I would recommend it if you have a vehicle. Our picnic it was great. The bus routes were awesome I couldn't ask for anything better coming from Santa Maria:)"
"This is definitely a nice walk! PSA: no bicycles allowed no skateboards No wheeled devices ADA and strollers are allowed No dogs allowed. Stopped at the Pismo Beach Pier since I’ve never been here. Surprised again that it’s so policed! There are halo cameras everywhere which doesn’t actually make me feel safe at all. Yes it’s beautiful and clean and such but we are losing the capability to have great experiences without being watched all the time. There are sign’s everywhere of what is not allowed. You can breathe, walk and talk quietly that’s about it without being considered loud. Make sure you pay for parking if your not disabled they have someone writing tickets all day. For a quick peaceful moment yes stop by but if your looking for a place to be yourself with out all the rules this isn’t the place for you. Yes it’s beautiful however you cannot fully enjoy yourself if you are someone who is more outspoken and enjoying of all outdoor activities. It’s not as culturally diverse as it used to be from stories of older generations. I felt very uncomfortable walking around with all the folks staring at me yes I’m long haired and tattooed up but that does not mean I’m going to do something to anyone. It’s a shame really how policed this pier is."
