Recognized as Historic-Cultural Monument (HCM) #1149, these residences are a testament to the rich African American history and cultural heritage of Venice. The Irvin Tabor Family Residences span two lots and comprise eight unique buildings, including a two-story structure, a duplex, and five charming one-story bungalows. These buildings are thoughtfully arranged around a central courtyard, reflecting the distinctive character of the historic Oakwood neighborhood. In 2017, the City of Los Angeles formally acknowledged the site's historical significance by designating it an HCM.
