Glenner and his wife Joy, our institution is dedicated to helping families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Glenner was a renowned Alzheimer’s researcher who discovered the beta-amyloid protein, a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease. In honor of his work, the UCSD School of Medicine presents The George G. Glenner Memorial Award to a graduating medical student who exemplifies Dr. Glenner's qualities.
