At St. John’s, our Sunday services are enriched with hymns from The Lutheran Hymnal, creating a meaningful worship experience. We are also proud to offer a Sunday School program for children under 12, which begins right after the Children’s Message. The classes are taught by the experienced teachers of St. John’s Preschool, located on our campus, ensuring a nurturing environment for young learners.
Our history is rooted in community and faith, beginning in 1953 when Pastor John C. Jacobsen of the First Lutheran Church in Manhattan Beach connected with local Lutheran families to establish a new mission. Our journey has seen the dedication and support of many, including the Southern California District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, which helped us build our current house of worship, dedicated in 1958.
Pastor Scott Geminn, a graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and holder of a Ph.D. in Religious Education from Fordham University, brings a wealth of experience and passion to our congregation. Together with his family, he is delighted to serve the people of St. John’s.
In addition to our spiritual offerings, St. John’s Lutheran Preschool is committed to creating a warm and loving community for children. Through active involvement with the environment, our preschoolers learn self-sufficiency, problem-solving, and positive peer interaction, helping them discover their unique God-given potential.
We invite you to support our church and preschool through various community programs, including those offered by Ralphs Grocery Stores and Office Depot, which provide financial contributions to our educational efforts. Donations can also be mailed directly to St. John's Lutheran Church.
