The Southwest Regional Apprentice Program, located in Coronado, California, United States, is a unique school offering a four-year intensive training program in skilled trades related to the maintenance and repair of Naval Ships. In partnership with local Naval Activities and Southwestern College, the program provides apprentices with a combination of college classes and on-the-job learning at various naval bases. Upon completion, apprentices are hired into Federal Civil Service positions with full benefits. The program is fully funded by the Department of the Navy, with apprentices paid on a federal wage scale basis. Graduation and completion rates are high, with a 100% placement rate for completers.
