We utilize medication-assisted treatment in combination with psychotherapy approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectal behavioral therapy, family therapy, and trauma-based therapy depending on the severity of the addiction. With multiple levels of care available, including detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment, virtual outpatient programs, and an aftercare alumni program, we strive to provide the best chance at lasting recovery.
Akua Mind & Body offers a range of treatment modalities for individuals struggling with substance use and mental health disorders, blending eastern and western approaches. "When I walked through the doors at Akua in July of 2022, I was in serious need of help of getting sober. My anxiety was through the roof but I was quickly met by amazing staff who assured me that they were there to help me anyway they could. It took me a few days to settle into the house routine but when I did it was a life changing experience! The staff understood addiction, anxiety, and depression. "They took really good care of me here. Comfy beds, good food, and trips everyday to places like downtown Folsom, Walmart, Starbucks, the lake, the river, and downtown Sacramento definitely make it not feel like a prison. This place has a pretty big backyard with a sweat lodge, basketball court, fire pit, and a boombox/radio so you can listen to music outside. Although the groups and meetings every hour of the day can get a little exhausting, this place changed me for the better. I am now living a sober life with so much freedom and free from pain! Also, the staff was super nice, understanding, and knowledgeable. Thank you for helping me help myself Akua!"
