The Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association (ESIA) is a non-profit organization located at 190 East Yaney Street in Bishop, California. Our institution serves as a book store, store, and travel agency, offering interpretive education about the Sierra Nevada and Great Basin landscapes. The Eastern Sierra region is rich in history, with many tribes and bands, such as the Miwok, Mono Lake Kutzadika’a, Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe, caring for their native lands. ESIA works in partnership with local, tribal, and federal governments, as well as fellow non-profits, to provide educational programs and exhibits that highlight the beauty and uniqueness of these public lands.

Welcome to Serra Chapel, a historic and spiritual treasure nestled in the heart of San Juan Capistrano, California. Located at 26801 Old Mission Road, this revered place of worship is part of the renowned Mission San Juan Capistrano grounds. With its rich history and beautiful architecture, Serra Chapel stands as California's oldest church, having been built by Spanish padres shortly after the mission's founding in 1776. It is a place where faith and history intertwine, offering a unique and serene environment for worship and reflection. Serra Chapel is known for its traditional Latin Tridentine Masses, celebrated every Sunday at 6:30 and 8 a.m. by visiting Norbertines from St. Michael’s Abbey. These Masses attract a diverse congregation, including conservative and traditionalist Catholics, as well as visitors drawn to the chapel's historic significance. For those seeking daily worship, English Mass is available on weekdays and holydays at 7 a.m. Although confessions are not held within Serra Chapel, they are available at the nearby Basilica Church on Fridays and Saturdays.
