Welcome to the Long Beach Municipal Cemetery, a serene and historic resting place nestled at the corner of Willow Street and Orange Avenue in Signal Hill, California. Spanning 4.3 acres, this cemetery is not only a tranquil park but also a significant part of Long Beach's rich history. Established as early as 1901, it is the final resting place of notable figures such as William Erwin Willmore, the founder of Long Beach. Operated and meticulously maintained by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, the cemetery offers a peaceful environment with well-kept grounds, including manual watering, tree maintenance, and careful grave management. The cemetery is steeped in history, originally part of the Rancho Los Cerritos and linked to the Bixby Ranch. Although no Bixby family members are interred here, the Bixby mausoleum remains a notable feature.
