City Hall Theater 1928
β OpenCity Hall Theater 1928 is a historic institution located at 9770 Culver Boulevard in Culver City, California. Originally opened in 1928 as Culver City's first purpose-built City Hall, the building was designed by architect Orville L. Clark. The second-floor auditorium was converted into a commercial movie theater in 1943 following a fire that destroyed the town's only theater, the Meralta. The theater, operated by Mike Rosenberg's firm Principal Theatres, Inc., provided entertainment for military personnel and defense plant workers during World War II. The venue was known as the Meralta Theatre, carrying over the name from the pre-fire location. The building has a rich history, with the Culver City Theatre previously occupying the ground floor in 1915.
