"I needed a living trust and a medical directive, and I couldn't afford the expense of a lawyer. I was also worried that my family and house would have to go through probate court when I died. I heard probate would eat up much of my estate. My buddy recommended I call Kerry Spence at People's Legal Docs to see what she could do for me. Kerry is a Legal Document Assistant (LDA is a fancy name for a paralegal) who could prepare the documents for me. Kerry helps people with the paperwork for divorce, estate planning, wills, living trusts and deeds. Kerry had me come to her office and we discussed my situation. She was very personable and we clicked right away. I really liked her professional and compassionate manner. We spoke for a while and she took notes. She told me she charges a fixed fee for the documents, and if we needed a legal opinion or strategy, she would call in a lawyer for an hour or two consultation that I would pay for separately. This was a big surprise for me, because the lawyers I used in the past all wanted a big retainer up front, and would bill me for fractions of an hour. I remember even being billed to leave a message on their machine when I returned their phone calls. I expected Kerry to hand me some forms to fill out, but she said she would do all that for me. That was the reason for the chat we had in her office. I did need some advice on my retirement, so she set me up with a lawyer at a reduced fee. One hour later I had the information I needed. Easy! She finished the documents for me, and even got the info I needed from my bank. I highly recommend Kerry and People's Legal Docs. She made the entire process painless, and I figure I paid a small fraction of what I lawyer would have charged me. I am one very happy guy. Very cool!"
