Oak Glen Conservation Camp #35 is a unique institution jointly operated by CDCR and CAL FIRE, located in Yucaipa, California. The camp's main mission is to provide incarcerated hand crews to assist in emergency response efforts such as fires and floods. Participants also work on community service and conservation projects throughout the year. Situated in the San Bernardino Mountains at an elevation of over 5,500 feet, Oak Glen Camp is surrounded by the beautiful San Gorgonio Wilderness area. The camp, located near the apple-growing community of Oak Glen, sits on 27 acres of leased Forest Service land within the San Bernardino National Forest. The camp has a long history dating back to its establishment in 1945 as a tent camp, with various agencies providing manpower over the years.
