Cutting Ball Theater
● OpenCutting Ball Theater is a pioneering institution located at 277 Taylor Street in San Francisco, California. Despite facing possible closure due to the challenging funding landscape for theater in the aftermath of the pandemic, Cutting Ball Theater continues to push boundaries and produce radical, experimental works. As one of the last arts organizations in the Tenderloin neighborhood, the theater emphasizes the importance of preserving innovative art and is seeking community support to raise $200,000 by June to sustain operations. The upcoming production, "The Soul Never Dwells In A Dry Place" by Rotimi Agbabiaka, directed by Edris Cooper, takes audiences on a kaleidoscopic journey through various cultures and art forms. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen events, portions of the workshop performances have been canceled. Instead, the theater will be offering a paper collage workshop and a community event inspired by the play's themes. In addition to its productions, Cutting Ball Theater has launched CB Commons, a free community space available for various activities such as meetings, rehearsals, and gatherings. The theater also offers the Creativity Closet, providing artists and community members with access to art supplies free of charge.
