Holiday Inn San Francisco-Golden Gateway, an IHG Hotel

"In the city for a wedding. Stayed 2 nights. Bed and pillows were comfy, shower head and water pressure was good. They have a pool but didn't get to go. Extra charge for parking and breakfast. I recommend, eat local."

"I'm usually the one who books the hotel for trips, but I let my husband handle it this time, and that was a mistake. The location was good and I appreciate that they had parking but the service was terrible and the room wasn't clean enough for me. On the website, it says the restaurant opened at 3 pm, so me & my husband go to get some lunch, and they said the kitchen isn't open until 4. Then I call downstairs from the room to get my stepson some dinner, and no one answers the room service or restaurant number. So I go downstairs to order the kids' meal, and the guy looks me in the face and says, "kid's meals are for kids 12 and under" very rudely. I respond, "He's in the room, and the only reason I'm down here is because y'all didn't answer the phone." Neither one of the guys who were checking people out for food who I encountered was friendly at all. The desk didn't answer when my husband called for extra towels and stuff. So overall, the location was good, parking was a plus, and the breakfast that was included was decent. However, due to the lack of good customer service, I'd never stay here again."

"We had a delightful overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway . From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was seamless and swift, setting a positive tone for our stay. The room, along with the bathroom, was in impeccable condition—spotlessly clean and well-maintained, which truly made us feel comfortable and at ease. The entire experience was hassle-free, including the check-out process, which was just as quick and efficient as our check-in. The Hotel is right next to our Goods and Star Bucks and Trader Joe’s is quite near as well. Union Square isn’t far and many San Francisco tourist spots and quite accessible. This stay has solidified our preference for IHG hotels, and we're already looking forward to our next visit. Their commitment to guest satisfaction and cleanliness standards is commendable. We left feeling exceptionally happy and are eager to plan our future travels with IHG hotels."

"Nice for a quick trip. $250 security deposit at check in was not expected. Apart from the hot water not working in our room the first day, this hotel was pleasant. Quiet enough however it seems to be home to a lot of conferences, events, and tour groups coming and going. Next time I think I would choose a smaller boutique style hotel. Close to the top of Nob Hill, walking to Union Square and surrounding tourist areas is a bit tough. Ride the 49 bus for north and south or California&Market cable car for east and west travel. The pool is nice, quiet, and warmed in the winter. The parking garage is convenient for coming and going but there is a garage down the street 2 blocks that is only $8 from 9pm-9am. If you’re going to be using your car all day and can stay busy from 9-9 then this is the best and cheapest. I would have increased the service to 5 stars if I was offered some sort of credit for not having a working shower after 10 hours of air travel. For the remainder of the day I felt gross and uncomfortable. Hopefully they will pay closer attention to room inspections before guests check in. Update. Ordered beef tacos and got shrimp. Only realized after I took a bite. Not good when you have a shellfish allergy. They fixed the issue quickly and gave me a free drink and extra taco."

"Great location at the end of the California Street cable car line. The higher floor rooms have amazing views of the city. The room we had was a corner room on the 24th floor. It was immaculately clean, had nice linens and a very comfortable bed. The views were spectacular! The employees were all friendly and helpful. Parking was a little pricey at about $44.00, including tax, per night, for hotel guests."
