Situated near the beach, the building has a rich history as it was once used as horse stables and a loading area for supplies to build the Hotel Del Coronado. The building has housed various businesses over the years, including a surfboard showroom in the 1950s. In February 1964, Ye Olde Plank became a beer and wine bar, and in February 1969, it was purchased by Alan Winkelman and his wife Betty Mae. Today, the bar is owned by Martin R.
