Perspectives Photo School

"Our son has joined Tara's photo school for three summers in a row. Tara gets the class to different, interesting places to take photos. She also has a teaching style that is both challenging and encouraging--helping students expand their technical skills and artistic vision. It has been fun for him, and exciting for us to see the growth in his work."

"My kiddo spent a week with Perspectives this summer and it really sparked a love of photography. He had never really used a camera before so he joined the Beginners camp. They went all over the Bay Area, taking pictures of nature, cityscapes, and people - whatever they were interested in. At the end of the week, the kiddos shared their "best" pics in a photo show. The camp was well organized and Tara was very communicative throughout."

"My son did his first photography camp with Tara this summer and loved it. Tara is a patient and skilled teacher, and was able to engage these teens. I could tell from the Friday slideshow that all were excited and proud to show their work, and I was impressed with the work of all of the students. It was brilliant to take them all over the city to capture unique shots, and also teaching them the skill of winnowing your work down to the best ones. My son liked it so much he has signed up for a second week this summer."

"Our daughter (middle schooler) attended the Youth Photo Camp last summer with Tara. Perspectives was a great intro to a new skill for her, helping her to learn the basics of photography. The structure & schedule for this camp is great, in the sense that the kids can go explore a wide variety of interesting locations within a week. Monday thru Thursday the class explored locations around SF, Lake Merritt & Tilden Park; then on Friday the week culminated with a day dedicated to taking portraits in Tara's studio, followed by a photography show for family & friends to come enjoy. The students get to assemble their own photo album over the week, then curate it down to their favorites and even get some of their photos printed out for the "gallery" show. My kid is normally prone to venting about camps or after-school being boring or saying what's wrong with them, but she absolutely LOVED this camp experience, and we'll be back for more this summer."
