Heartwell played a significant role in advocating for the city to purchase the land that now makes up the park. The park is divided into four main sections, each offering unique amenities and attractions.

Rynerson Park, located at 20711 Studebaker Road in Lakewood, California, is a popular tourist attraction and park. Established in 1990, the park spans 40 acres of open space and features amenities such as a bike trail head, walking trails, picnic shelter, and baseball diamonds operated by the Lakewood Little League. The park is situated on the east side of the San Gabriel River and was renamed in honor of Jacqueline Rynerson, a former mayor of Lakewood who played a key role in the park's development.
