The California Institution for Women (CIW) is located at 16756 Chino Corona Road in Chino, California. The institution provides a safe and secure environment for primarily Level I/III female offenders, offering quality health care and specialized programs tailored to meet the unique needs of female inmates. CIW offers a variety of programs including academic and vocational training, substance abuse programming, pre-forestry and camp training, arts in corrections, and inmate self-help groups. In addition to its general population, CIW accommodates inmates with special needs such as pregnancy, psychiatric care, methadone treatment, and medical conditions like HIV infection. The facility also serves as a hub for the selection and training of female firefighters for conservation camp placement, as well as a higher security facility for inmates in Administrative Segregation.
