James E. Morrow LIbrary Huntington, WV 25755
About the Business
Welcome to the James E. Morrow Library, a cornerstone of knowledge and history at the heart of Huntington, West Virginia. Located on Third Avenue on the north side of Marshall University's campus, our library has been a beacon of learning and research since its opening in 1930. Funded in part by Dwight Morrow and dedicated to his father, James E. Morrow, the library carries a rich legacy of educational excellence.
As we transition into the digital age, Morrow Library remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving our college's history and traditional resources while embracing modern advancements. With recent renovations and technology upgrades, including extensive wireless connectivity, we ensure that our patrons have access to both historical and contemporary resources.
Our expansive facility spans over 100,000 square feet, housing the Morrow Stacks on the first floor and Special Collections on the second floor. The University’s Testing Center is conveniently located on the ground floor. The Morrow Stacks alone contain approximately two-thirds of the campus’s book collection, alongside a comprehensive selection of periodicals and journals.
Visitors are invited to explore our seven-floor Stacks Tower, where books are organized according to the Library of Congress Classification System. For assistance, our Service Desk in Special Collections is always ready to help.
For a glimpse into the library's storied past, including photographs and more detailed history, please see the Buildings of Marshall: Past and Present. We invite you to visit and experience the blend of tradition and innovation that defines the James E. Morrow Library. Please use the campus-side entrance on the second floor, as the Third Avenue entrance is no longer accessible. We look forward to welcoming you to our library, where history and modernity meet to foster a thriving academic environment.
