"I never like writing these kinds of reviews, especially for doctors. Dr. Rissover was the doctor who actually gave a name to the disease (fibromyalgia) I've been suffering with for years on end--she gave legitimacy to it all. The issue is how I've been treated, especially by a doctor who works at a pain management facility. I have been experiencing debilitating pain for well over two weeks now--pins and needles on the bottom of my feet all the way up to me knees. Other pains and spasms have been spreading throughout my body have been occurring as well. The pain has been so bad that I have not been able to stand for 5 minutes at a time. I've been missing work; I haven't been able to leave my house. The first time I called the office after experiencing this pain was Thursday January 23 - no answer, so I left a voice mail explaining my situation. On the 24th, after trying again, I get a call back, and their medical assistant lets me know that Dr. Rissover was sick and would be back in the office that Monday the 27th and will call me back first thing in the morning. I thanked the medical assistant, and waited for that call. It never happened. I waited well into the afternoon to try and call - no answer. Then again towards the end of when I expect clinic to be over - still no answer. I get a call back, and the MA tells me that Dr. Rissover was still sick and would be back the following day and would call be back that morning. So I repeated the very same thing the next day with the same results. But, this time, the MA tells me that Dr. Rissover had returned to the office with no voice around noon, and that she had about 20 calls to go through. I asked if I should expect a call back that day. The MA said no. I said okay, and she hung up. Not long after, Dr. Rissover called me, and this is how the call happened: Dr. R- Nuva? Me- Yes? Dr. R- Have you gone to physical therapy like we discussed two weeks ago? Me - I was supposed to go Tuesday but I couldn't make it because I've been bedridden. I can't stand. Dr. R: - Can you go to the bathroom? Me- yes. Dr. R: - the kitchen? Me- yes... Dr. R: - then it doesn't sound like you're bedridden. Anyway, we can have an mri ordered on your spine. Not sure if we'll find anything anyway. Not sure if insurance will cover anything with no PT either. Me- okay. Dr. R: Are you still seeing lindner center of hope (my therapist)? Me- yes. Dr. R: - Good. Because you can't call my MA 20 times like that. I just got into the office yesterday, and had 20 patients to go through. Me- I'm not trying to harass anyone. I understand how it works. She kept promising a call back. I never got one. She said I'd get a call back Monday. I never got one. She said I'd get one yesterday morning, then in the afternoon. That's why I called. It's the expectations she kept giving me. Dr. R: - Alright, Nuva, we'll get those MRI ordered. *Click.* Not once in did Dr. Rissover ask how I was doing, what my symptoms were, why I was calling...anything. She failed to uncover that I would wait to even take a shower until 4 in the afternoon most days because I can't stand for more than five minutes at a time. Instead, she rushes me through the call with clear irritation in her voice, and then throws my therapist in my face, because I've been calling their office. I've only been calling because I have been given the expectation of a call back. I understand that she had been sick - I wasn't given all of that information from the beginning. I work at a doctor's office, too, and I understand how hectic clinic gets, especially when the doctor is out sick. I really do. I have been patient with the staff as I've been calling the entire time. All I've wanted was a realistic set of expectations, especially because I had no one else to turn to. I'm sitting here typing this, still in shock, that Dr. Rissover could talk to a person-let alone a patient-in that manner. I can't tell you how much that conversation has shaken me to my core. I'm still struggling with my condition, and now I'm back to square one."
"Had been wrestling with my GP for help for over two years. She really listened to what I wanted and needed. Had me diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and asked me how I wanted to treat. I told her I wanted to do diet and exercise because I dont like pain meds. She was very helpful and gave me websites to get more info to help me. Have recommended two of my friends to her."
"She actually listened to me about my bad back and didn't automatically assume that all I wanted was pills and instead she has actually found a few things to help me were no other Dr has in over 25 years and she actually really cares"
