"Sharon has a very condescending attitude and wanted to tell me what she thinks I’ve done wrong as a parent. I’d like her to know what she is doing wrong as a nurse practitioner because maybe in the future she could treat patients, especially children, with kindness. Sharon diagnosed my daughter who has a history of high fevers and sepsis with pneumonia but said she couldn’t call it that without X-ray imaging. She also had zero plans of doing the imaging. She tried to prescribe amoxicillin and when I told her that doesn’t help my daughter (who has had several rounds of IV antibiotics in the past for life threatening sepsis) she became very irritable and told me the sign on the wall about overuse of antibiotics is there for a reason. I wasn’t just trying to get an antibiotic I wanted my daughter to feel better. Unhappy with this “diagnosis” I took my daughter to Children’s immediately. They had us skip the line based on the appearance of my daughter and her lethargy. They did the imaging and my daughter does not have pneumonia. She doesn’t need the antibiotic Sharon tried to give us and I won’t be giving it to her. That sign on the wall is there for a reason, Sharon. I urge all parents, go to Children’s even though it’s a further drive. We are now pursuing testing for autoimmune diseases for our daughter. Antibiotics aren’t always the answer. I know this and I wasn’t pacified by a quick, get out of here, diagnosis. Health care providers should actually like people."
