About the Business
Welcome to Liberty Acres United Rescue Animal Sanctuary!
Nestled in the serene countryside of Liberty, Indiana, Liberty Acres United Rescue Animal Sanctuary is a 22-acre haven dedicated to providing a loving and nurturing environment for animals in need. Located at 3546 East Mitchell Road, our sanctuary is a place where animals can find solace, care, and a second chance at life while they await their forever homes.
At Liberty Acres, we specialize in caring for senior, geriatric, disabled, and hospice dogs who come from shelters where time and resources are limited. Our mission is to offer these "death row" dogs a chance to regain their health and find loving families. Some of our residents become permanent members of our sanctuary family due to medical or behavioral issues, ensuring they live out their days in comfort and happiness.
Our canine residents enjoy cozy accommodations in tiny homes equipped with doggy doors and fenced areas. Each home is climate-controlled, providing air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter. Dogs can often be found lounging on couches or snuggled in beds, surrounded by our dedicated staff who live on-site, ensuring they're never alone. Daily activities include hikes, off-leash running in our 6-acre fenced area, and playtime by a 3-acre pond.
In addition to dogs, we are committed to improving the lives of our feline friends. We are working on building new enclosures, including a Cat Cabin, that will allow cats to live in colonies with outdoor spaces, comfy furniture, and climbing areas for exercise.
Our sanctuary is also home to unique residents like Pumba and Arnold, our charming pigs, and Dave, our charismatic rooster who keeps watch over the sanctuary grounds. Each animal has a story and a personality that enriches our community.
While we pride ourselves on finding homes for our animals, we understand that some may not be adoptable due to special circumstances. These animals become cherished permanent residents, living out their lives with the love and care they deserve.
If you're interested in adopting a dog, cat, or even a pig, please fill out an application. Once approved, we'll arrange a meet-and-greet with your potential new housemate. Adoption fees include spaying/neutering and vaccinations, ensuring your new friend is healthy and ready for their new home.
Your support is invaluable to us. Donations of any size help us continue our mission to save homeless and abandoned animals. Click on the donation tab on our website to contribute and make a difference.

"Liberty Acres cares about the animals welfare. I'm happy we have Liberty Acres in our community, looking out for welfare of animals."
"Liberty Acres is beautiful, very peaceful and a wonderful sanctuary for many dogs."
"Liberty Acres takes in pets that are elderly, disabled or have problems that prevent them from being in a home what, and they make their lives wonderful! The tiny house setup where the dogs live in a house complete with furniture to lounge on and climate control, the lake to play in, the way and field to run in, huge yards. The dogs received the best of care and are played with and interacted with everyday all day long. Many of the dogs that end up there turn out to be adoptable! They are a very needed and very much appreciated provider for dogs who had nowhere else to go! Appointments are needed if you want to visit."
"This is such an incredible place. We adopted from here and now we tell everyone we know to check them out and to donate if they're interested in charity. The dogs are given such good care and the woman who works there is an incredibly dedicated and helpful person. She clearly lives and breathes to take care of the animals rescued there. Seriously if you love animals or just doing good works, DONATE TO THIS PLACE."
"People who care about animals helping them find the perfect home. We recently adopted from them and they were more than happy to allow our current dog to visit in their fenced in areas and run with his new soon to be brother so we could make sure they got along before bring them into the home together. Amazing people, amazingly friendly service."
