About the Business
Welcome to the Licking River Greenway Trailhead, your gateway to nature and adventure in the heart of Northern Kentucky. Located at 2234 Eastern Avenue in Covington, our trailhead serves as a starting point for exploring the ambitious Licking River Greenway and Trails (LRGT) project. This multi-phase initiative aims to create a seamless urban trail experience through the scenic Licking River corridor, linking the vibrant cities of Covington, Taylor Mill, Wilder, and Newport.
Upon completion, the multi-purpose trail system will stretch an impressive 12-14 miles, offering a diverse range of recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. In Covington alone, you can enjoy 1.5 miles of serene nature trails, .75 miles of paved pathways, and around 2.5 miles of trails that integrate with existing sidewalk and road infrastructure.
Our trail is easily accessible from several convenient locations: behind Holmes High School at the corner of Levassor and Eastern Avenue, the dead end of E. 16th Street, Clayton-Meyer Park, and behind Randolph Park. As you explore, don't miss the captivating series of 17 murals adorning the LRGT gatewells. These artworks, developed in partnership with ArtWorks and SkywardNKY, add a vibrant cultural dimension to your outdoor experience.
Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to the area, the Licking River Greenway Trailhead invites you to discover the natural beauty and artistic charm of Covington and its neighboring communities. Come and experience the perfect blend of nature, art, and community along our trails. Learn more about the murals and plan your visit today!

Reviews
"One of the better places around Covington to go for a walk. A nice trail with mixed surfaces, some dirt and some pavement. There's a climb up to the water retaining wall then back down. Connects to several parks and goes along the river for a while with some pretty views."
"Not a bike trail. It's a nice grassy walk along the Licking River but don't try it for bikes unless you know of a Aftican Savanah bike model."
"This trail is not safe for women to walk on alone. At least not in the portion that starts in a bad part of Covington closest to Randolph Park on 8th St. The trail is surrounded by homeless camps and unsavory looking men in the neighborhoods nearby. Covington has a lot of work to do..."
"Good idea. Minimal trail, little evidence of maintenance. Still worth the effort."
"This is my place is relaxing and getting my head together. My husband and I go every chance we get. With working split shifts, its difficult throughout the week. We take our dog and let her just be a dog. Very friendly people that ya may run into. Love the fishing too. You never know that kind of wildlife you may find"
