"Worked in police records data entry and it was the most toxic environment I’ve ever worked in. Within a few weeks of working there, I noticed my coworkers bashing the department manager on a daily basis behind her back usually. My data entry section had: cliques, outward racism, terrible attitudes and low class. I got along just fine with the majority of people in the office that were sane. I know they put me over in data entry for demographic reasons, I just wish I would’ve been placed in customer service because the quality of people was better there. A few coworkers literally started driving me crazy with their rudeness, open racism and overall poor life attitudes and ignorance. This led me to quit after being there a year. They did hire new people right before I left and I hope for the department’s sake it’s now a healthy place to work in data entry. I do have my regrets for leaving because I could’ve transferred eventually to a different department, but I didn’t have the patience and I reached my psychological breaking point. To the manager’s credit, she did care about my well-being and did what she could to help me but I’d already checked out mentally months before I quit and my motivation to be there was non-existent. I know I’m not being too drastic as I’ve gotten confirmation from third parties that told me police records was and maybe still is a nightmare department to work in and they were right. In the last two months I was there, 5 people left: 1 retired, 2 quit and 2 transfered. This sounds like the definition of high turnover. Pros: benefits, some nice coworkers, cake job, etc. Cons: toxic coworkers, racism, bullying, harassment, intimidation, etc."
