"I’m a former patient, and working with Jacob Nafziger as my doctor started off really well. However, overtime as a very chronically ill person, it became very frustrating. He refused to prescribe me a sleeping aid and told me to take benedryl which I did. It made me dissociative, groggy and heavily impaired my cognitive functioning and caused me severe memory loss. After concerns from friends, I eventually stopped taking it and felt normal again. I find prescribing me benedryl for sleeping was very irresponsible, especially with the bad side effects it is known to cause. He seemed willing to refer me for testing, which was nice and did make me feel heard. However, even with my ongoing symptoms and continuous pain and problems, I found myself hitting a wall. I received diagnoses that gave me answers, but there were a few times he approached an issue I was struggling with immensely as if it wasn’t. He denied me FMLA because he did not believe the anxiety I was experiencing was appropriate for the use of it. Even after explaining to him how agonizing it was, with meds, and how it impacted my job and ability to stay at work and perform. He told me he does not work with disability, but this came as no surprise to me as there were some red flags that felt a lot like ableism coming from him. A follow up with my specialist concluded that I likely had a lot of osteoarthritis in my body, but he was unwilling to believe that due to my age. Hence implying “I’m not old enough” to be having the very real health concerns and very real and debilitating symptoms I was experiencing. I am now jobless, barely able to walk without a cane and for more than a few minutes before I need to sit down. I feel his care is not intended for the chronically ill, due to another reviewer on here who had a similar experience with him. I would highly suggest not considering his care if you are a chronically ill person and have more than things such as anxiety, depression and mild pain and symptoms. And my advice to him is to take people seriously, listen to his patients and leave his personal beliefs out of decisions he makes. There is not a certain age that the body will malfunction."
"Every time I visit, my wait isn’t long. The staff is nice. The nurses are patient, great listeners and don’t feel like they’re rushing me. The place is easy to find and clean. Jacob Nafziger himself is fantastic. He is attentive, makes you feel welcome and, in my experience, always helps figure out the bottom line of my issues. When I come in with specific issues, he asks the right questions, diagnoses and helps follow up with what to do next."
"He saw me once. He refused to do a physical (it had been a few years since I'd seen a physician,) even after I brought it up in-person. He was very dismissive about all of my physical concerns with the implications that I was "not old enough" to have health problems. He only really told me he wanted me to eventually stop taking prescriptions that assist me in sleeping. I was very polite about his lack of care given, and I received a letter within 30 days after my appointment stating that he was dropping me as a patient due to "loss of physician-patient relationship." I told the nurse on my way out he refused a physical. That was the only thing negative I said about him publicly until now. If given an option I strongly suggest you not use this individual as your care giver."
