"If you pay Duke energy through the budget program where you’re supposed to pay the same each month, beware they adjust once a year. I just had to pay almost $1,000 because their computer’s algorithm decided that I was paying too much and decreased my amount in October (right before winter) and then decided I needed to pay more in April but in the meantime, I had to make up the difference. I thought the whole idea was to pay more during the summer so I wouldn’t have such huge bills in the winter. It’s worked fine up until now. I’ve talked to someone at Duke Energy and tried to post on their facebook page but it’s not set up to do that."

"This company is the absolute worst, how hard is it to run power to a house? My daughter was to close on her house on the 21st, that was canceled because Duke hasn't done the power????? They are living from hotel to airbnb costing them $500. A week, money that they don't have to be waiting all because Duke. Now they find out it could tale 15 more days? Are you FN kidding me? I think it's time to get an attorney!"

"I have 40 years of being an early payer and most of that time a credit score in the 800 range. I received an invoice from a collection agency for 81.00 that a Duke Energy gave them that had ties to a rental property I owned several years prior. Apparently there was a partial bill that wasn't paid. I was never notified by the utility company and my first notice was from the collection agency. I asked for documentation and then paid it in full immediately. They reported me negatively to the credit bureau and dropped my credit score 45 points."
