"It's sad that a place takes advantage of people grieving the loss of a loved one. My Mother passed away June 29th and just because Smith's couldn't take care of funeral until Saturday July 6th on a Saturday we were charged $300 for overtime workers at the graveyard because it was the weekend. Then we go back out to visit and they left the head stone and the flowers in the Vase a mess covered in mud. I'm so heartbroken and disgusted by this place. I wouldn't even give this place one star but it won't let you post otherwise. I went back out today 7/11 to visit with my mom and heartbroken again the dead flowers are still lying on her grave. This place is awful. I posted another picture"
"For years our family has used Smithview and Grandview Cemetery and have always been impressed with their professionalism and care. Since moving closer to Grandview I often utilize the space as a safe walking area and am always amazed at the beauty and care that is taken of the grounds. Thank you so much for being so respectful of our family and so many others."
"EDIT: DOWNGRADING TO 2 STARS! Addendum added to the ending! My family has been a customer of this cemetery for 50 years or more! I never had a problem with the place before. They maintain the grounds well enough and it has always been a special place bc it is where I go to visit my family that have passed. But now that I am the one dealing with the arrangements I have gotten to see another side of the people managing the daily operations. They were nice enough when we came in to plan my mothers sudden departure, but I did not use them for all of our needs. We already owned the plots and had already done the cremation and ordered a grave marker from another company. I am not sure if that has contributed to my recent issue with them or not. Here’s my issue: we buried my mother a month ago to the day, but her grave marker has yet to be placed at her grave. My father is unable to leave flowers for the love of his life. When I called to inquire as to why I was met with an untruthful answer regarding the delivery of the marker, but I was told it would be done “first thing next week”. That’s was 2 weeks ago… We spent a bunch of money on that marker and tons of thought and time went into its design. My dad hasn’t been back since the funeral bc we are waiting for the marker to be in place. I cannot in good faith recommend this place to anyone anymore. There are plenty of options out there people! ADDENDUM: My review received a reply with a blame shifting response suggesting the monument company made some mistake, which is ridiculous, and for me to call in to clear it up. I wait a little while bc I am super upset and emotion about this problem that has persisted. When I got the phone with the same person I’ve dealt with the entire time I have been dealing with the cemetery, he wasn’t sure why it wasn’t installed. Weeks ago he told me the delay was bc I the monument company just delivered the marker, which we know is a lie bc they sent me a pic the day they delivered it a week prior, but at least he apologized and assured me that it would be done “first thing next week”. Fast forward two more weeks and here I am on the phone with the same guy again, he puts me on hold briefly… Low and behold, the new reason is bc we still owe them money (sounds scammy)! More money on top of the bill he wrote directly in front of me while we planned the graveside service… which was way overpriced to dig a small hole bc the service was on a Sunday (also sounds scammy). Not only that, it’s either my or the monument company’s fault that this new “installation fee”, that wasn’t included in the original bill, hasn’t been paid. When I asked why I had never been told about this fee or why it wasn’t mentioned weeks ago when I called in or why wasn’t it included on the original final bill, he couldn’t accept the blame and continued to suggest someone, anyone, other than him or Grandview had made the mistake. So I posed the question why they never sent us an invoice? I’m guessing it’s not legal to leave a grave unmarked in a licensed cemetery, not to mention extremely unprofessional looking and just an embarrassing and disturbing thing for the family that continuously shows up day after day to leave flowers for their loved one, but cannot bc their is no marker with a vase and no one knows why. So now I am to go by and pay this new fee. Fine. Apology? No. In an almost defiant way he instructed that no way would it be installed the day I paid the fee, no, there are far to many important things going on to have a problem like this corrected in a timely manner! It would take time to have one or two guys go out with their shovel and provide relief to a family who has been customers for well over 50 years! Who was lied to numerous times and blamed for not being better at knowing the unlisted fees of a burial. I wish I could speak with another employee there bc at this point I don’t even believe it’s a real fee, just feels like this guy is a scam artist, and if not completely incompetent! Sorry to be rude, but I am fed up with this issue!"
