"This is a very remote cabin, that's a hidden gem. Signs are all over the building making you aware of bears in the area, something to keep in mind when around here."
"Remote, isolated, and awesome! I can’t give it a 5 star because we could not sleep inside due to the smell of mold and mildew. I am highly sensitive and we spent less than 10 minutes inside looking around and then closed the cabin back up. We then set up outside as the pictures show. This turned out to be wonderful! The porch is excellent. It’s kind of like hanging out in a hiking shelter, except no one else is allowed! We loved that. Basically we paid $25 per night for a private campsite with a covered porch. Still less than any site in the GSMNP. The road to here is steep and sometimes very rugged. There is a privy and forest maintenance guys came and cleaned and restocked while we were there."
"I have been coming here for years. The road could be made with a car with high ground clearance but an SUV or truck is probably the safer bet. The cabin sits on top of the mountain with no cell service. I did not see any bats or mice this trip. I did discover if you cross cold branch and take the trail to an old forest road. Turn right. Then follow that road for about a 1/2 mile and the trail splits. Turn up the mountain on the left fork. This will take you to Bob Bald. It is a steep hike but worth it once you get to the top. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind. There are two charcoal grills so you can cook. Bring blankets and bundle up. I hope this was helpful."
"Such a cool little spot and piece of history. We were staying down the road and wanted to come check the cabin out. We will probably stay here next time. It is rustic, keep that in mind but it would be a blast to get a large group here. Fun property to explore."
"I was just out exploring and found the cabin. Looks Ike it would be a fun stay. Not sure how to rate it others would think its awesome some would think no way would I stay there."
