"Everything about the place was first class. Our server gave us a brief history of the property. Very interesting! The food was great. Not too expensive."
"No frills bar and grill. My daughter loved her pickle chips and wrap. The boys seemingly enjoyed their burgers. I had a steak that I didn’t love. It was very tough and given the chance I would have ordered something different. The food did take about 30-45 mins at 9pm in an empty restaurant. Our server was nice and mostly attentive."
"I was shocked when they brought me my $21 chicken meal. Allegedly it's an 8 ounce piece. Chicken breast is about $3-$5 a Pound. One small scoop of mashed potatoes and a few vegetables. We were a party of 12. It was crazy expensive for what we received. There was of course an upcharge for using a credit card. No one is missing the opportunity to charge you for using a credit card now that the concept has been invented. Soft drinks were $4 and you are only entitled to one refill. This place was a gross injustice. The bill was over $300. The $21 chicken meal was probably worth about $10-$12 and that price is adjusted for inflation. If it weren't for us ordering the equally expensive appetizers we would have all left hungry. My daughter purchased a Jeep Sasquatch T-shirt that was clearly marked $19.99 for a friend and showed me her receipt for $29.00. I brought her receipt to the woman running the show and she dismissed my concern as someone put that on it, but it was clearly the price tags they were using on ALL of their garments, including the hats that you wouldn't be able to reach hung high on the wall. Even as I write this review it's quite unsettling. With the tip I spent about $400. It looked like we ordered from the children's menu. I even mentioned it to the waitress, but nothing became of it and due to us entertaining a large group I didn't want to make a scene. If it were just my family I would have sent the tiny meals back and left at that moment. Paying an extra $10 for a T-shirt? Unacceptable. Tourist trap treatment I guess. You all have been officially warned!"
"I don’t like to give bad reviews but I have to say a little about Val-Du-Lakes bar and grill. We had a AWESOME waitress very helpful and attentive to us. Great atmosphere really cool looking place. And from what I saw for the small amount of time we were there they do a lot for our service members that’s awesome. The food……it was ok I ordered the olive burger. I thought it would be a little better than it was. Michigan is known for the Olive burger and I’ve hade a few in other places in the state, it’s always it’s usually made with some kind of garlic aïoli mayo and other spices most places go all out on theses burgers because so meany places have them. But not Val-Du. I got just a few olives and just a lil bit of plain mayo. It was ok …… I just expected a little more for the price we were charged. 2 adults 2 children ( who ordered off the kids meal) and I did have one alcohol drink it was $15 that’s a lil high I think. Our bill was $92 dollars for 4 ppl. That’s way too high. I’m sorry but I don’t think chicken strips and 2 hamburgers isn’t worth 92 dollars."
"Went here for dinner last night. Took a while to get seated but not horrible. As we were ordering food another group the same size as ours was sitting down. We ended up waiting over 2 hours for our food, while the other group after us had theirs. The owner came over and was very rude to us and tried telling us it’s because they only have 3 cooks and the other group ordered all fried food. Our server was nice, but myself and another person in our group never received our drinks after asking for them twice, and ended up having to go up to the bar to get them. The owner was very rude and unprofessional. They finally brought our food out in to go boxes because we had been there for almost 2 and a half hours at that point and had kids with us that had to get to bed. Some of us didn’t even end up getting everything we ordered, and what we did get did not look very good. Owner definitely does not know how to treat customers. Update for anyone reading, in regards to the owner's reply: The reply to this post is 100% incorrect. The 2 hours it took to get food did not include the wait time to be seated. We were seated around 7:15, had our food order in around 7:30-7:40. We did not harass the server, but around 9 o'clock, after getting zero updates, we did want to know what was going on and she said she would get her boss. That's when the owner came out and said they are making it, it will be out momentarily, but at that point we had to go because like i said, we have kids with us. So we had them do it in to go boxes. It took another 30 minutes after that interaction to actually get the food. By 8-8:30 they were at probably half, 2/3 capacity. Also. I was not the one to talk directly to them. And while we were sitting there, we had an interaction with another group sitting near us that had a similar experience as us that night."
