"Based on my overall experience, I would avoid this practice. Went in for a skin cancer screening, was a referral from my PCP. The actual screening was fine, the PA was friendly and thorough. However, my visit was flagged as a 'specialist visit' and not 'preventative'. They said it was because there was a diagnosis (but no treatment for said diagnosis just a note in my file) and I asked for a prescription refill. In over 20 years of skin cancer screenings, I have never had to pay as it is covered by my insurance as preventative. Hence, I had to pay out of pocket $200. No notification prior to the visit. I called and while they understood my position stood firm on this policy. Just my experience, your mileage may vary."
