"Just now . I came up for the bear hunt in 2023 and had a friend pre-arrange if I got a bear how we could contact them to get it in the cooler right away after the kill and finding the bear. The night time contact did not answer his phone or text messages and we attempted to contact Travis as well numerous times with phone messages, text messages and friends and families of both parties. We did not get any response from them and nearly 24 hours later still no response after leaving our phone numbers and text messages! I like to support ocal businesses but I highly recommend to not use Heritage Meats! The following day I was in contact with Roscoe"s Country Sausage and they were able to accommodate me bringing in my bear. PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE HERITAGE MEATS IN BUTTERNUT AS THEY HAVE PROVEN TO ME THEY DO NOT NEED ANYONE LOCAL TO HELP OUT THEIR BUSINESS!"
"Travis has ALWAYS been great to work with! He is responsive to my needs. If I have any questions he is more than happy to answer me and resolve any issue I may have had. I enjoy using a local business to support my business needs! He is knowledgeable in his craft and the quality of cuts is fantastic!"
"Not impressed. When picking up meat was either not frozen for the first round, or not sorted in the second round. After requesting longer hang time they ignored me, and after I got complaints about the meat being bad they blamed it on the cows (never had an issue before) and the owner Travis wouldn't even call me back after several calls and message."
"DO NOT take anything you want mounted to this place. I don't get the chance to get a buck nice enough to mount often. I made the mistake of taking my buck here. I could not pick it up right away but would have had I known the hide would make it to my possession SPOILED. As a taxidermist myself, I will say this DOES NOT happen often, that the hide will "slip" or lose a lot of hair due to bacteria from un-propper care. It usually involves excessive mis-handling. This was an old deer I was after many years that I planned on doing a half-lifesize mount of. Upon receiving the hide & opening the bag within 14 hours after thawing, I was worried right away due to the smell of spoilage that all taxidermist fear. I personally spoke to Travis, that this deer's care was very important to me. I told him if they needed room to let me know immediately & I would take the 4 hour drive to get it the day of. I received no call, only his word that they would keep it froze till I picked it up 2 months after dropping it off. This deer did not deserve to have it's hide go bad like this and this was and should have been avoided. As a taxidermist I would not find any integrity in myself to not let others know about my experience. MY EXPERIENCE WITH HERITAGE MEATS MADE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH!!! The worse part about all of this is we are worried to even eat the meat, which is what we pay the meat processor for! The photos I provided show the slippage areas, NOWHERE NEAR the bullet hole(s)... Once it started slipping on the face, I gave up working on it. There's nothing a person can do to fix slippage."
"We got some pork that had been processed by Heritage Meat, LLC. While the flavor is great, I'm hesitant to eat it. In just one brat, I bit down on 4-5 pieces of bone. Doesn't feel too good on the teeth. It certainly doesn't make me want to feed it to my young daughter. Not sure how they managed to get that much bone into a batch of meat."
