Nestled in the serene landscape of Sandford, Indiana, the Sisters of Providence Convent Cemetery serves as a sacred resting place for the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. As a community of vowed Catholic women religious, we draw inspiration from our foundress, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, and dedicate our lives to prayer, education, service, and advocacy.

The Convent Cemetery is a testament to our rich heritage and spiritual journey. It is where many of our beloved sisters, who have tirelessly contributed to creating a more just and hope-filled world, have been laid to rest. This sacred ground provides a tranquil space for reflection and remembrance, inviting visitors to experience the profound peace and spiritual inspiration that permeates the surroundings.

In 2020, we expanded our commitment to the community by opening the Providence Community Cemetery, a columbarium adjacent to the Convent Cemetery. This space offers an opportunity for individuals with a special connection to the Congregation to have their cremains interred, fostering a deeper bond with our Providence Community.

Visitors are welcome to explore the cemetery as part of the outdoor tour of the campus at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Maps are available in the Providence Hall Phone Room and at the Providence Spirituality & Conference Center. For more information or to arrange a tour, please call 812-535-4531.
