Reviews of Aperion Care Chicago Heights
"I went to the facility on June 22, 2022 for a scheduled appointment. However, the person who scheduled the appointment was not there and I was told the tour I was expecting to go on could not go forth because of a COVID-19 outbreak, but no one called me to cancel. How insensitive and rude with no regard for my time and the gas used to get there! I have read the other reviews and there is a common thread of staff being rude and insensitive and I picked up on that although this was my first time there! I am glad though that I had this experience because it shows to me the lack of care and concern they would have had for my loved one had I chosen to place him there."
"I lived at Apreion care for a short stay. This has to be the worst Nursing home in the city. Here's what I didn't like about Apreion care. First When a person lives at Apreion care The Nursing home gets Paid for your care .Then If you receive social security benefits you are only intitle to Thirty Dollars a month. The rest of your money goes to the Nursing home. Imagine Having Thirty Dollars in your pocket for a whole month. It's difficult to get by . Certain employees who work at Apreion care are rude to the residents . For example I wasn't interested in having conversations with them . Because my stay was Temporay . And Felt Judge for being there . The Food is not worth eating because they serve small portions . The smoke monitors are the worst at giving cigarettes to Resident's. They don't even wear gloves when they pass out cigarettes. Who would want to smoke a cigarette someone touch on the filter? Not me . And Cigarettes will come up missing out your pack . There are two showers rooms in the building and only one is working. Everyone has to use the same shower room and it has only two shower heads. Residents go in the shower room and they leave towels with Feces on the Floor. It is disgusting to take a shower If you ask me . I didn't like being there."
"My brother, unfortunately, lives at Aperion Care Chicago Heights. Animals in a zoo have a better quality of life. He has been trapped in his room with three roommates, except to use the bathroom. Never gets to go outside. Smokers are the only ones who get that privilegee. The food is often not very fresh and very little variety. My brother doesn't care for most of the fruits they serve, but they make no effort to get new selections. I put one star, but, honestly, they barely deserve half of a star. I would not have selected Aperion Care for my brother, but my brother was having serious issues and his doctor sent him there. Of course, struggling with mental health issues limits earning potential, so he is on disability and limited in options. When he first arrived at Aperion, he was neglected. He contacted me on two separate occasions that they had not fed or given him medications in several days. When I called, they didn't even seem to know who I was talking about. His nurse said he should have come to meals and picked up his medications when they called his room number. He couldn't leave the room as he had no clothes to wear Everything was in the laundry, and they didn't have anything for him to put on.The odor is so bad in the facility, we request my brother be brought to us in the lobby whenever we are able to get to Illinois to visit him. His personal items are frequently stolen. He has even had snacks I sent him eaten by the staff. I have had difficulties getting mail to him. He has been wanting to move in to an independent living facility, but they are so slow and don't seem to care about working to help him move."
"My aunt is a current patient and I only see her when I visit Chicago. I was not pleased. The administrator was extremely crass. She spoke to me as though she had no idea what's going on. She was so insensitive and ignored all of my concerns especially about the condition of the room in which my Aunt reside. It smelled horrid as though it hasn't been cleaned in ages. it reminds me of mold or mildew mixed with urine. The bed she was laying on appeared to have an infestation of bedbugs. The Administrator told me i was just imagining those. If only i could post pics. My aunt also has bed sores. She complained about how painful they were. My Aunt also smelled like she hadn't been bathed in weeks. Where are the nurses to clean her and make sure she doesn't get bedsores. I am currently in talks with my family and to see about getting her moved to another facility. Anyone that has family here should move them right away. This place is not safe. They don't have the patients well being as their main priority."
