"Drew a quota hunt here and drove across the State for it. Wish I didn't. First off the acreage of huntable land is not as advertised. There's a HUGE "safety zone" in the middle of prime land. All the smart deer head there at the first sign of vehicle traffic. Most importantly is that the plantation house is residence for nature conservation biologists and students which I observed driving around hunting areas during hunting hours disturbing deer in the process and ruining my and other people's hunt. When confronted they stated " they were just joy riding and probably shouldn't during hunting season" later observed then heading through the electric gate to the residence house. Avoid even applying for this hunt. There is no facilities to field dress your kill if you are even lucky enough to see anything. No food plots. All the cleared openings are overgrown and don't even have grass planted, just dirt. Place needs management. It's not as fancy as it is made out to be."
"This is a very lovely area if you like swamps (which I do) with a large variety of wildlife. Over the years, I've seen wild boars, alligators, snakes, otters and deer, not to mention the many species of birds that live here. There is also a bit of history to discover. Parking is not an issue but if you're sensitive to biting insects, bug spray is recommended."
"One of the Best places to visit if the gate to the Plantation is open, Nature, Wildlife, Flowers, Hiking, Photography, very interesting and a joy to visit"
"This is an incredibly beautiful place. The folks renovating it and taking care of it are doing a fantastic job. Every time I visit here I feel like I'm back home again. There are some reviews on this page that make no sense at all and were apparently written by illiterate individuals who have never been on this property."
"Overall bad experience. From the start we started chasing the local “whinzerknot” somehow I woke up stranded on a cypress knee stump with a 6 lb mosquito wearing my boggin knee slapper. By god I wasn’t coming out there with my boggin missin. If you go to the Altamaha to square up with a mosquito you got the place."
