About the Burlington County Library
Welcome to the Burlington County Library, a cornerstone of community and learning since 1921. Located at 5 Pioneer Boulevard, Westampton, New Jersey, our library proudly stands as the first county library in New Jersey, originating from a humble room in the Mount Holly YMCA. Today, we have expanded into a comprehensive library system serving the largest county in the state.
Our main location in Westampton is the heart of our system, offering a wealth of resources and facilities to enrich your learning experience. Explore our state-of-the-art tech lab, delve into the past in the New Jersey history room, or browse our extensive microfilm collection. Young visitors can enjoy our engaging Storytelling Room and Teen Zone, while those seeking a quiet place to work can utilize our meeting and study rooms.
Our library is not just about books; it's a vibrant cultural hub. We boast a 250-seat auditorium where award-winning musical performances are regularly held, providing entertainment and cultural enrichment for the community.
For those interested in genealogy and local history, we offer a dedicated space for family and local history research, ensuring you have the tools and support needed to uncover the past.

Reviews of Burlington County Library
"Librarian Cereja Van Sciver is so wonderful! Willing to go the Extra Mile for her patrons, she makes the library experience exceptional! Plus, this is just a great library anyway! Go visit!"
"Something for everyone, and then some. The dedicated spaces and service interfaces are there for so many different material resources, and the media and gaming sections keep up for the kids. Not to mention, they've embraced the graphic novels, maintain excellent new release and children's sections, and they organize a teens subset. If you adventure in with your kids beyond their tot and early elementary years, the lounge and cafe spaces help win them over as they understand the library as another media source and experience. After some meandering and relaxing, my to-be eleven year old son went from "I hate the library!" to "It's pretty cool". It's not like that's easy. There's back-flips and aerials, magic tricks and playoff matches, hiding in plain sight in there. They have achieved some captivating experiences in a beautifully calming environment. Someone that worked as a librarian for the location mentioned that major 2012 renovations benefitted from grants, which the library system and area Congress members are excellent about facilitating. They auto-renew for 2 rounds now, and they recently rolled out their awaited fine-free policy to encourage more borrowing of inventories. The venue's self-check-out may be underutilized. I am one that with sports seasons and so on, has not usually visited more than every other month, and sometimes it's just to drop off from the recent pile of books I've checked out. However, as much as all the data is so tied together in the catalog inventory, the software needs to scan the library's Call # (usually located atop the first inside page). As much as you can search by ISBN, it's not integrated and will just reject the book and caution about taking it. It requests that you refer to staff. This happened with a couple graphic novels that neighbored the video game section, and video games require explicit retrieval from behind the desk, so my son already needed my card to get that process going, and all the staff are so nice about processing the materials. However, don't second guess if the self-checkout has a seemingly bizarre message, and just look for another scannable feature. The Call #s are not tied with ISBNs, but everything tagged and on display will be recognizable by the library system and your check-out. It's not quite like at the grocery store, but it's also a great system to help processes, since the staff are tasked with so much in keeping up the excellent space, events, and services."
"I went to a concert here. It was a Sly & Family Stone retro band. The theatre within the library is large enough to accommodate a big crowd ,yet it is designed that there's not a bad view within. As I was waiting to get in, I got their May event calendar. I was surprised at the array of activities offered such as crochet, Will preparation, book club, and operating smartphone and library systems ie. Libby."
"Very pleasant experience with my 2 grandsons, ages 5 and 8. Besides a wide selection of books, they enjoyed the Legos and STEM options. They ended the visit by jumping on the hopscotch print on the carpet! The boys are always happy to spend time at the library."
"ATENTION! CLOSED SUNDAYS JULY & AUGUST! The light$ are on and not shown on the library website or here on maps. Totally renovated and expanded (2012), building with the addition of a large auditorium, a children's mini auditorium ish room, conference rooms (one large room with a dividing curtain), a media area, a teen area, a security station, a drive up book drop box, a concession area with a seating area, and a amphitheatre. All the original facilities still remain like the actual library, lol the children's library, video library, historical documents room, computers, etc. Many programs are offered, including indoor and outdoor concerts. Theamphitheatere area includes a concession building with attached bathroom and a couple of picnic tables under a shelter. Besides a large parking area (still not enough when concerts are well attended), there is a dedicated handicapped parking area next to the amphitheater. Enjoy. It's all paid for with the dedicated library tax, so consider all this a paid for service and accept nothing but the best."
