"Beautiful place to observe nature and be alone with your thoughts. Lots of different birds and waterfowl. Some areas to explore and find hidden history. Summer season is the best time to birdwatch, especially for the osprey. Just remember, this is a salt marsh, which equals mosquitoes and green heads. Now is a good season for hiking there. They recently refurbished the observation deck. Very nice now."
"Other one of those weird end of the world places that I love! ❤️ From the parking area it's about a half mile walk out to the bayside. Nothing much to look at, just wetlands, but interesting in a desolate sort of way."
"Nevermind the couple of Karens who reviewed this place, based on thinking this was a ‘beach’ in the traditional Jersey Shore sense. This is a secluded ghost town on the Delaware Bay, which is NOT known for swimming/sunbathing. If you cannot appreciate a stroll through gorgeous marshlands, surrounded by nature, then don’t come. You won’t be missed by those of us who can appreciate history and solitude. Yes, the green-eyed flies can be vicious, and the fishermen can do a better job cleaning up after themselves. Other than that, this place is a wonderful escape for those seeking some ‘downtime’ away from the world. HELPFUL HINT: Check the tide charts and don’t plan on being able to access the area, or leave it once you’re there, at high tide. The waters tend to envelop the access path/road, meaning you’ll have to wait until they recede."
"There is a small overlook deck about a mile from the water, with an osprey nest about 60 yards away with an active mating pair. It’s an easy 15 minute walk to the beach from there. We saw horseshoe crabs, turtles, and plenty of gulls, and collected some nice medium size conch shells. Dogs are allowed (at least there’s no signs, and if you go early no one else around to care) It’s not a pristine sand beach but it’s a nice two mile hike and some opportunities to see wildlife."
"Birding, biking + hiking. Loved exploring remnants of yesteryear. A town that was destroyed to flooding and raising water levels, now a sanctuary to all who visit. Solemn memories to the town and people's who once called it home..."
