Peek Preserve is a vital part of the Maurice River Corridor, recognized as an “Important Bird Area” by the National Audubon Society. Our wetlands provide a sanctuary for a wide array of birds, including migrating waterfowl and raptors. Witness the spectacle of Red-winged Blackbirds and the majestic hunt of Sharp-shinned and Cooper’s Hawks during the late summer months.

Please note that ticks and biting flies are common from mid-April to mid-September. Also, the Bald Eagle nesting area requires certain trail closures from January 1 through July 31 to ensure the safety of these magnificent birds.

"Swung by here last weekend because we were doing the Natural Lands Preserve challenge and honestly I probably never would’ve gone if we weren’t so I’m glad we found it. The trails aren’t the longest but it’s very cute. Lots of interesting lichen and mushrooms as well as a kayak put in. Park outside by the gate and walk up the road a bit to find the sign with the map. Thanks to Natural Lands for maintaining this area!"
