"Smith Power had serviced our Generac 20KW generator for a few years. Over time we've come to realize we needed a stronger unit to meet our needs. Till now we've always spoke with Mary when we needed service and felt like we had a good enough relationship that we could depend on receiving an honest recommendation from Smith Power. We called and within a couple of days Carlton visited us, performed a thorough evaluation and recommended we upgrade to a Generac 26KW unit. We agreed with his proposal, signed up and our new unit was installed a few days later. We were very pleased that Smith Power handled 100% of the conversion. With our original unit we had to coordinate between three parties (dealer, electrician and plumber). Smith Power also took away our old unit and coordinated with South Jersey Gas to upgrade our gas meter. We have no regrets whatsoever of entrusting Smith Power with our whole house generator upgrade and any future service needs."
"My experience with this company has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. We had several concerns that needed to be addressed, but it took multiple attempts to "fix" the issues, only to discover that they were never truly resolved and even caused new problems. The panel labeling was incorrect not once, but twice, and despite our efforts, it remains improperly labeled. We were left to fix it ourselves. To add to the list of issues, they roughed our garage but failed to run it to a separate breaker. As a result, our 30x30 garage is powered by the same circuit as our laundry room and pantry. It's ridiculous to expect us to run power tools and chargers simultaneously while doing laundry. The lack of professionalism is astounding. During their last visit to complete tasks in our house, we realized that none of the kitchen lights turned on after wiring an exhaust hood. Once again, my husband had to troubleshoot and rectify their errors. Now, we have to redo the wiring in our garage, running it to a separate breaker through finished drywall. It's a lot of additional work and expense caused by their incompetence. Despite numerous phone calls to rectify the situation, the company failed to take responsibility. Mary, who promised to call us back and schedule the necessary repairs, never followed through. It's disheartening to think that our hard-earned money was wasted on their subpar work, forcing us to do the repairs ourselves. The company made countless excuses for their mistakes. I hate to speak poorly of a small business, but the level of disappointment is overwhelming. We expected better from a family-run operation. Why didn't they provide honest and informative guidance, especially since I was the primary point of contact? The phrase "We did it the easiest way" sums up their attitude perfectly. They knew they were taking shortcuts and providing lazy work. It's frustrating to think that we were taken advantage of because I lack electrical expertise. Thank God my husband can fix these things. We trusted them to do the job properly, but they let us down repeatedly. Furthermore, their time management and communication skills were abysmal. On one occasion, two workers spent eight hours installing just five ceiling fans while leaving the panel unfinished. To make matters worse, they had the audacity to express frustration about their own inefficiency. The lack of coordination and poor management within the company is evident. When hiring a company, one expects professionalism, expertise, clear communication, and problem resolution. Unfortunately, this company fell short on all fronts. My advice to others is to ask numerous questions and ensure that all agreements are clearly stated in the contract. Otherwise, you run the risk of receiving lazy, incomplete, or even incorrect work, just as I did."
"I needed repair on my Generic Generator. I contacted the two best rated companies near me. Smith Power Group Inc and Quality Power Systems. Quality price shocked me they wanted $225 for the first 1/2 hour $225 for the next hour and $56.75 for every 15 minutes. Carlton Smith came out at no charge and seen that I needed a air intake box that was broken from a back fire and a new stater motor. The next day he got back to me with a price of $590.00 dollars for the total repair. The parts alone cost around &350.00. Not bad considering it would of cost me over $500.00 just for labor with Quality Power.A couple of days later after the parts arrived two workers of Smith Power came out and did the repair . Generator runs great.Nice job from all. Thanks Ron"
"Carlton and his staff installed a Generac Whole House Generator and were professional at all times. His crew was polite and answered all my questions. Mary in the office was prompt to respond to all my emails and phone calls. I highly recommend them for any work you might require."
"I contacted Generac to have a whole-house backup generator installed and was referred to Smith Power Group as their authorized representative in my area. Carlton Smith came to my house personally to evaluate what size generator was required. I was extremely impressed with Carlton as he was very personable, knowledgeable and professional and able to answer all of my questions. He gave me a proposal which I accepted and Mary, the office manager, handled all of the permit applications. The team that installed the generator was first class, knew what they were doing and made the entire process as painless as possible. I was particularly impressed with electrician Mike Monkiewicz who took the time to explain everything to me and pointed out that my electric panel was in danger of failing due to an accumulation of rust. Mike gave me an estimate to replace the electric panel and a subpanel and I hired them to come back and complete that job as well. Mike's work was precise, neat and competent. Take a look at the before and after pictures of my electric panel! Following the installation of the generator, I had one issue with a warning light. I contacted Mary and she sent Mike out the next day to resolve it. Their service response is excellent as well. It was a pleasure to find such competent, caring and responsive professionals, especially these days! I will continue to use Smith Power Group for all of my electrical needs and highly recommend them."
