Reviews of May Funeral Home
"I am writing a review because my mother would have wanted me to!!! :-) I wish dead people could see themselves at funerals because she would have raved for sure!! I did not read any reviews when I chose May Funeral Home. I was born and raised in Willingboro, and when my mother was in Hospice, it was the first place her and I thought of. I am sorry to read that so many had a not so great experience however, I have never been more impressed! Initially, Alex met me at the hospice center in about an hour as he said he would, (prob about 5am!) and walked me and my cousin through the entire process before collecting my mother. He said over the phone before he got there that he was going to "..help me land this plane" and he did just that!! I felt comfortable and confident that all would be well. My mother passed away exactly 3 weeks before the funeral, and she looked absolutely AMAZING!!! Her skin, was flawless! I don't believe any make up was applied to her skin, but she did have a natural colored lipstick and mascara as I requested. She looked to be sleeping and looked truly like herself. She was not swollen, discolored or anything at all, just flawless!! Almost hard to believe she was not alive, that's how good she looked!! My mother had naturally curly hair. Instead of applying curl products to it and combing it through to define the curl pattern as suggested, they took a small curling iron to it instead and had several curls going straight back and picked out lightly into style. Talk about IMPRESSED!! The outfit that I picked out for her made her look even more beautiful! They kept a bracelet on that she had before she passed and it worked beautifully!! Everyone has been calling me since the service to say what a wonderful job that was done with her. We have all been to our share of funerals and some people have been unrecognizable, but friends and fam were truly impressed as well. The entire staff was great from start to finish and I never felt left in the dark at any time. The custom guest book with her picture on the front was included. The book also has areas to add place of birth, and even a family tree. Also included was a beautiful plaque with her picture on it and a candle light that I did not expect! As a caregiver of my mother for over 6 years, and having lost her too young, in my opinion (66), I really needed this to be a great experience, and it was!! Stress free, and professional as she also would have liked!! I am working on my thank you card next!!"
"They help me with the most difficult time of my life which was planning my mom’s funeral. From the beginning to the end they made everything run smoothly I would definitely recommend and use their services again. Thanks so much May Funeral Home ."
"I URGE ANYONE TO NOT UTILIZE MAY FUNERAL HOME! They are the ABSOLUTE WORSE!! I lost a very close friend of mine and since I live out of town and couldn't be in attendance I sent flowers to the family. The flowers were entrusted to May Funeral Home during transition from the service to the burial ground and the limo driver "left the flowers in the trunk of the limo." Consequently, the family never received the flowers. After a week of simply trying to speak to Darien about this and coldly being tossed from the Wilingboro office to the Camden location I was coldly told that they don't reimburse for flowers! There was no apology, no compassion and NO RESOLUTION! People as unprofessional as this should not be in business!!! And this was just one of many other failures on their part. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE- THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORSE!"
"DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. Unfortunately, I chose May Funeral Home when my husband, Mr. Robert Allen Smith, Jr. passed away on December 8, 2017. The first thing that the " office staff" did was not let me use the obituary that I had wrote for my husband. The very very rude, impolite/ uptight elder female worker behind the desk told me, " she put the obituary in the BCT/ Burlington County Times & that it was " cheaper ". { I never mentioned any issue about the cost of ANY of May Funeral Home services! The elder woman did not even ASK me if I wrote an obituary for my husband! She never informed me about writing a very short one about my husband & that she had it printed in the Newspaper until after the fact! SHE DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MY HUSBAND BESIDES HIS D.O.B. & D.O.D. Secondly, after my husband's viewing, I requested to have all of my husband's clothing back. The woman behind the desk said, { in a borderline hostile tone}, " usually the family of the deceased does not ask for clothing back"....WHY WOULDN'T I WANT MY HUSBAND'S CLOTHING & $100 SOMETHING DOLLAR EXPENSIVE DRESS SHOES? My husband was cremated! Nonetheless, I had given May Funeral Home one of my rosary beads to place in the coffin with my husband. May Funeral Home never returned my rosary beads. On the evening of the private/ family viewing, when I saw my husband I was crying hysterically, of course; I LOVED HIM DEARLY but I was basically in shock because he did not look the same. His face was swollen from the rigormortus but the " staff" FAILED to inform me that his appearance was changed because of this!!!! The woman behind the desk came into the viewing area & HONESTY TO GOODNESS that woman gave me the stink eye while I was crying! I had to call May Funeral Home several times to find out when my husband's ashes would be ready. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW! After my husband's ashes did come in & it was time to select an urn for my cremated husband, AGAIN; The elderly woman working behind the desk was rude, unsympathetic, showed no compassion at all in every single interaction. I never once heard, " I am sorry for your loss ". When I received the announcements pertaining to his service, there were several typographical errors. The announcements were printed upside down too! Due to the extremely poor customer service that I had received, all the issues that I had to deal with & the fact that the woman working behind the desk should not even have been hired by May Funeral Home due to her total lack of empathy; May Funeral Home in Willingboro gets ONE STAR. May Funeral Home on Pine Street in Willingboro, New Jersey is awful & they definitely are not recommended."
"My experience was the worst they were rude to us after we paid. First off all the programs that my niece (her father) spent many hours on was changed to their liking even know we were paying for them. With my niece crying and my daughter stepping another 1hour for someone that was grieving and no one seemed to care it was like OK FIX IT.The day of the funeral they were late and rushed us into the church we couldn’t even take our coats to view my brother body telling us we were late because of their driver!!!! I would consider that Extremely Rude no compassion their was no support for us. We also were not allowed to speak with family and friends rushed again into the car to get to the Cemetery. The topper was when they told my mother she needed to find her own way back from the Cemetery but that didn’t happen they took the whole family back. So you tell me what you think about how a Grieving family was treated. Just so that you know my mother is not one of the type of person that gets loud or mean when speaking with people (attitude). So I am not sure my family was treated like that so the memories will always be with us the Disrespect. I would never Recommend this funeral home to no one not even my worst enemy. There’s always karma"
