About the Business
Welcome to the Historic Green Cemetery Trust
Located at 500 Tanyard Road, Deptford, New Jersey, the Green Cemetery Trust offers a serene and respectful resting place steeped in history and natural beauty. Established in the 1880s by Dr. Lewis M. Green, a visionary local entrepreneur, our cemetery was designed as a "rustic county garden," providing a peaceful environment for reflection and remembrance.
Dr. Green initially acquired the former Methodist-Episcopal Cemetery, now known as West Park A & B, and expanded the grounds by purchasing three adjacent plots, creating the original 22-acre facility. In 1887, he began operating the Green Cemetery as a sole proprietorship. Following his passing in 1894, the cemetery was transferred into an "Operating Trust" as outlined in Dr. Green's will, due to the absence of corporate law in New Jersey at that time.
Today, the Green Cemetery Trust continues to uphold Dr. Green's legacy, operating under the combined jurisdiction of the Surrogate's Court of Gloucester County, NJ, and the New Jersey Cemetery Board (NJCB). We invite you to explore our rich history and learn more about our services by visiting the History and Cemetery Plan tabs on our website.
Experience the tranquility and historical significance of the Green Cemetery Trust—a place where memories are cherished and history is preserved.

"I have a question?I am starting a paranormal YouTube Channel soon and I ask if I can do a paranormal investigation there and have u seen ghost or anything there?"
"Absolute disgrace, I went today to my Father's grave, my sister and her husband drove from Va and did as much as they could to clean it up, there are old fallen down trees that lay on top of so many graves, it is just a mess, the fence along the road is falling down, grass hasn't been cut in years, it is so sad, want to know who now owns it, we paid to have our loved ones there and it is deplorable, my family is there, please clean it up. And if anyone knows who owns it please let me know.."
"Disgraceful. I went to pay my respects to my grandmother and there is a huge tree down in front of her headstone. Also a lawn mower needs to be taken to the part the public can't see."
