Gather Place Museum

Welcome to Gather Place Museum, a unique and vibrant cultural destination located at 188 South Canal Street, Yardley, Pennsylvania. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we are proud to be a cornerstone of cultural preservation and education in Bucks County. Nestled within the historic 1877-built African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church, our museum is a testament to the rich heritage of Yardley Borough's Historic District.

Owned and operated by an African American woman, Gather Place Museum is dedicated to unveiling the often-overlooked narratives of Yardley Borough, Bucks County, and the Quaker founders of Pennsylvania, with a special focus on African American and Women's history. Since our opening on September 10, 2022, we have transformed into a living history museum, offering a diverse array of exhibits, documents, photographs, documentaries, and interactive history lessons.

Under the visionary leadership of Shirley Lee Corsey, our Property Conservator and Executive Director, we are committed to "bringing history to life." Visitors can immerse themselves in historical reenactments, inspired by the West African Griot tradition, where stories convey the essence of history. Our museum is a lively hub for community engagement, hosting monthly special events and programs that provide unique opportunities to connect with history and culture.

Gather Place Museum is open to the public on weekends from 12 noon to 3 pm, with weekday visits available by appointment. We are actively involved in the restoration of our historic landmark through generous donations and grants, ensuring that the legacy of our past is preserved for future generations.
