"Great small town library. Good collection includes games and movies. Friendly and helpful staff. Strong kids program. Has an art gallery and interesting lectures, too."
"Stellar place to pick up a quick read. I for one read, « the cow who milked herself » ! Great service with a smile and felt like a real community spot. Truly a jewel of New Jersey"
"During a recent retreat to central Jersey, I had time to settle into the region and visit a few of its libraries. Flemington's took hold of me straight away, and I became a regular within the few weeks I was in town. The structure of the building, inside and out, feels just as a library ought to be designed. I was able to focus on work in the wooden carrels and Windsor chairs upstairs, while peering over the balcony to the hum of library happenings below. Though I didn't mean to eavesdrop, every interaction I caught between librarian and visitor was so genuinely attentive and this warmed my heart. Also noteworthy: this library had an entire book shelf and cart stocked full with books being given away, of which I filled my arms and bag. Mostly children's hidden gems, admittedly, but there were a number of great novels and nonfictions in all genres, both classic and contemporary. I'd already read many of the ones I spotted or I'd have scooped them up! If you're in town, stop and stay awhile, take in the well-curated displays and overall atmosphere, and give a few of these fine strays a home. Or, as librarian Jorge says: "Take them all!""
"Libraries may seem like a nostalgic throwback and the look and feel of the Flemington library lives up to that notion but it is precisely that which gives it unique charm. Modern amenities abound like electronic notifications of due dates, internet access and its respectful collection of multimedia offerings (CDs, DVDs, audio books and games) yet that rustic "throw back" charm shines through. Books may seem outdated to today's generation but some of us prefer the feel and smell of hardcover books and their thick leafy pages. The Flemington Library maintains a great selection of bestsellers and some critically acclaimed (yet not so popular) offerings and if you cannot find what you are looking for they can eventually get it. The staff are super nice and helpful and instantly know where titles are kept. They welcome you with a smile and a demeanor that evokes all the great cliche's that one equates to a librarian. The children's section is large considering the limited building space and it is situated in a way that children can roam free to explore literary adventures. Perhaps I am old fashioned but there is something magical about a library and the limitless capacity it has to nurture the mind and soul...the Flemington Library does all that. The moment you walk in and smell the familiar scent of knowledge you know you are in an oasis away from the instantly gratifying outside world. Here, if you so choose, you can break free of the smart phone, social media and politically charged 21st century atmosphere and drape yourself around a good book or newspaper. I just moved here and visited the library (as I have done many times past in other locations) and was instantly charmed by all its attributes. More importantly thought is the notion that this library like all the others I briefly called my own is one thread in the tapestry of life that binds my past, present and future."
"My 4 year old son likes this library particularly the story times and creative craft activities. Staff is very friendly and greets everytime we visit library. They know most of the library members by name and it gives a feeling of family."
