Reviews
"I am updating my review based on them taking feedback and increasing the hours so I can actually use this. Now that it is open till 8 three days a week and supposedly getting limited Saturday hours this is going to become a community amenity I can finally use. Thank you!"
"Great library. Services are free to Phillipsburg residents. Wide variety of child and adult events, check out current listing on their website"
"I appreciate the recently expanded hours. The library is open Tues-Thurs until 8pm now. I still wish they would open on Saturdays again though. The staff is always very friendly."
"My 2nd grade child asked to visit the library. We have not been to this establishment since pre Covid days. I was pleasantly surprised that the library is still going strong here in Phillipsburg. The kids area in particular impresses me. I understand the area we live in and the need for the library isn’t as great as major cities but for what we have these librarians do a fantastic job!!! My 7 year old was able to get her own library card and sign the back in Sharpie and everything to make it official! On top of that I absolutely appreciate the way these ladies treated my daughter. They treated her so nicely and just were very welcoming. This made a nice first impression on her and makes me as mom over the moon happy because their kindness made it where my daughter wants to come back and visit. We checked out 11 books! My 2 children have read each book cover to cover the past few nights. I can already see their reading getting stronger and their confidence is going up :) As we have had these 11 books home I have asked them “ how do we treat our library books ladies? Do we eat with a book? Do we put the books on the couch and walk away? Do we put our books in the kitchen?” They have shown so much care and responsibility since these 11 books have arrived. I got to say I think they get it. I feel like I’ve won a lottery. My kids are taking care of something and I do not have to say 100 times pick it up, don’t do that, etc. I never saw my kids take initiative and responsibility the way they have with these books. My youngest child missed the library trip so we are hoping next week the 3 of us can go and she can get a card. Going to the library was a magical experience for my 2nd grader. She is so proud to be a library card holder and she is proud to read out loud the books she checked out! I 100% encourage you to bring your kids in to get a card and check out some books. While there my daughter enjoyed math problems on the kids computers. She also played some blocks. There is so much to do in there for kids. The thing that makes me rate 4 stars instead of 5 is the hours. Closing at 5 pm and no Saturday hours really stink. It can only be probably once a season I can have an afternoon to stop in after school and bring both kids. Total bummer to know this jewel exists in my town and unfortunately we will not be able to access it because of hours of operation."
"The reference desk went above and beyond their necessary duties to assist me with an issue I encountered (due to a problem I didn't expect) which was really admirable. The main desk was friendly & courteous (really the entire staff was)! The display of seasonal books was uplifting & inspiring (St. Patrick's Day themed)! The bathrooms meticulously clean & tidy! Overall, it's a well maintained library easily worth at least a single visit!"
